Ohaneze Ndi Igbo Condemns The Continued Detention Of Ifeanyi Ubah, Demands His Immediate Release

The Youth wing of the Igbo apex socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC, has condemned the continued incarceration of nwafor Igbo, Dr. Ifeanyi Uba, Managing Director of Capital Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, by the Department of State Services, DSS, describing it as abuse of democracy and his fundamental human rights.

OYC also noted that the detention amounted to abuse of an on-going court process, and called for his immediate and unconditional release, while charging the DSS to allow the law take its due course.

Nwafor Igbo Nabbed By India Police For Processing Drugs

Nwafor Igbo, Eneh Amobi Wilfred, 47, has been nabbed for for possessing cocaine weighing 1.3kg and worth Rs9 crore, at a suburban railway station in Mumbai, India.

He was arrested by a team from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on a tip-off by a ticket checker on Tuesday, May 16.

"Wilfred said he was as a tourist and as he wanted $200 to return home, he offered to smuggle the drug,"Kumar Sanjay Jha, NCB zonal director, Mumbai and Goa region told Hindustan Times. 

The drugs weighing 1.3kg was to be delivered to someone in the city, an official said.

Court To Rule On The Case Of Anambra Man Accused Of Product Counterfeiting

A Federal High Court sitting in Awka, Anambra State, will tomorrow deliver its ruling on an application filed by a manufacturer, Benjamin Nwizu, seeking to quash the charge preferred against him by the Federal Government over alleged products counterfeiting.

Nwizu, who is the Managing Director of Bendusco Nigeria Limited, Onitsha, is being prosecuted before Justice I. B. Gafai on a four-count charge.

Stray Bullet Fired By Police Officer Kills Man In Imo State

Disaster befell the Orlu, Imo state as a young man identified as one Remigius Enwerem was on Friday, killed by a stray bullet allegedly fired by one of the policemen brought in by two brothers battling over the leadership of Banana Junction motor park at Amaifeke in Orlu Council Area of Imo State, with their younger sibling.

Sun News reports that the police team was allegedly brought by the Ozioma and Ozoemena Agubata group to apparently dislodge the boys of their younger brother Nkeonyere from the park.

Two Igbo Sons Nabbed In India Over Drug Peddling

Two Igbo men, Celestine Ikeweta (37) and Edeh Sunday Chukwudi, 29, both residing at Delhi, were yesterday, 17th May, nabbed by the Ludhiana police for supplying drugs in Punjab while 2kg heroin hidden in two places in the district wre recovered from them after their interrogation.

Deputy inspector general (Ludhiana range) Yurinder Singh Hayer said that during investigation of a previous case in which an accused, Balvir Singh, was arrested with heroin, it was found that two Nigerians, residing at Vikas Puri in New Delhi, are the suppliers of the drugs.

Suspected Assailants Of Ohafia LGA

Young men suspected to have assasinated the chairman of Ohafia LGA in Abia state, John Eke, were yesterday, Wednesday, nabbed by youths in the community.

Reportes say the Ohafia local government area has been hit by crisis over attempts by some Councillors to impeach Eke. 

The state house of assembly recently suspended three Councillors suspected to have been inciting crisis in the area.

The suspected assassins are currently in police detention.

Tragedy fell on the Nkpor police division as suspected armed robbers, yesterday, Wednesday, killed a police officer and collected his rifle at Nkpor, along the Onitsha-Awka expressway in Anambra state.

Reports say the robbers, who were about seven in number, had gone to rob somewhere else and on their way encountered a team of mobile policemen at Nkpor flyover. The robbers allegedly opened fire on the policemen, killing one.

The statement by the RRS, revealed that Victor, a betnaija agent with several shops in Lagos, residing in Lagos, was ambushed at the victim’s school, where he came to pick him with his car, stating that he  had slept with three other teenagers before he was arrested by the operatives on 9th of May, 2017.

While carrying out a 4-day crackdown operation on drug dealers in India, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Delhi Zonal Unit, India has nabbed Nwafor-Igbo, Odonga Chukwuebuka Stephen, 38, a South African and four others some of whom are a nationals of India.

The Bureau also, confiscated narcotics substances worth Rs 12 crore in the international market.
