BasketMouth Wins Pan-African Comic Of The Year In South Africa

Odogwu nwafor Igbo,veteran comedian, Bright Okpocha popularly known as Basketmouth emerged the winner of the Pan- African comic of the year award at the 2017 Savanna Comic’s Choice Awards held in South Africa.

The multi-talented Abia state-born entertainer came out tops over other notable comedians across Africa shortlisted for the award such as Carl Joshua Ncube from Zimbabwe, Salvador from Uganda, Fernando from Angola and Masapo from Lesotho to cruise home with the covetous prize.


Charly Boy And His "Our Mumu Don Do" Group Pay Condolence Visit To The Family Of 10 Year Old Boy Killed During Market Demolition

Nwafor, Charles Oputa popularly known as Charly Boy and his "Our Mumu Don Do" group today, paid a visit to the family of Late Somtochukwu, the 10 year old bold killed during the demolition of the Eke-Ukwu Owerri.

The condolence visit was to pay tirbute to the boy and sympathise with the family.

Igbo Young Man Living In Indonesia Found Dead In His Room Few Weeks After He Was Declared Missing

Igbo community in Indonesia were yesterday, Thursday thrown into mourning as one of them,identified as Onyebuchi was found dead in his apartment.

It took the effort of the Indonesian Police to break into his room where his dead body was lying lifeless.

This is few weeks after he was mysteriously declared missing in the locality he resided.

The cause of his death has not been yet ascertained. 


Four Die In Anambra Following Gas Explosion

Tragedy struck in Anambra state as no few than four persons were feared killed on Wednesday, at Obosi in Idemili North Local Government Area of the state when a cooking gas exploded.

Also, reports say, several persons sustained injuries in the incident which occurred at Trinity Gas Limited Station, at Obosi, in the process when a gas attendant was refilling gas to a customer’s cylinder.

The blast killed the gas station attendant and three others instantly, injuring scores at the scene.

Ex-Biafra Commander Dies Three Weeks After Losing His Wife

Ogbonnaya Oji, a retired colonel in the Nigerian army, is dead.

Mr. Orji, from Oboro in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, died on June 20, three weeks after the death of his wife, Christiana, according to information made available to PREMIUM TIMES by his nephew, Ahaoma Kanu, a journalist with National Daily newspaper.

He was 76.

Mr. Orji, who joined the Nigerian army in 1960 as an officer cadet, was later to become one of the major actors of the first military coup in the country in January 1966, alongside the coup leader Kaduna Nzeogwu.

This little boy was sent out to hawk pure water but cannot find his way back to his parents or guardians.

He identified himself as Moses Onochie and speaks only pidgin English.

Moses was brought to the office of Hon. Engr. Ofodeme Ikenna Sylvester, the Transition Chairman of Ekwusigo LGA secretariat at Ozubulu, Anambra State by DSP Abel Uchendu of Ozubulu Police Headquarters.

Anambra State Thrown Into Mourning As Two Teenage Siblings Die In Flood Disaster

Anambra suffers another flood disaster as two siblings (umu aka abuo) aged 12 and 6 have been confirmed dead following massive flooding in Okpoko, New Haven Layout, Ogbaru, Anambra State.

According to the Sun, rainfall which started on Thursday evening and lasted through the early morning yesterday left several properties damaged in parts of Onitsha, Owelle Aja and Oduke in Obosi and Okpoko area.

Church buildings, fences, vehicles and houses were damaged in the flooding.

In Okpoko area, streets affected include Achina, Ojibe, Onyekwelu and Emenike.

Corps Memebers (Corpers) who have been eagerly waiting for the Stream camping can now have a breath of releif as the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has released the calendar for the 2017 Batch A Stream II orientation exercise. 

The prolonged Stream II which according to the NYSC had been necessitated by lack of funds and some logistics issues, is a continuation of the 2017 Batch A Stream I which had long been dismissed from the various Camps in the country.
