Medical Doctors In Abia State Cry Out On Alarming Rate Of Kidnapping Targeted At Their Colleagues In The State

Thhe incessant Kidnap occurences taken place in Aba has forced the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Aba, chapter, Abia State, to cry out as the criminal act has of recent been targeted on their members.
The Association bemoaned of the Friday, April 7, abduction of a doctor in the city who was on his way to buy medical supplies, and just 72 hoursafter, another doctor was seized at his clinic with a patient.
While revealing the unfortunate occurences to newsmen in Aba, Chairman of the NMA, Aba zone, Dr. Udo Mark, lamented strongly the kidnap of the doctors and pleaded with the state government to strengthen the security institutions in the city to ensure adequate protection of lives and properties.
He said, “On Friday 7th April, a medical doctor was kidnapped when he went to procure medical supplies. 72 hours later, another doctor was kidnapped at his clinic with his patient. If a doctor feels that his life is at risk, that doctor will not go to work. We urge them to stop kidnapping doctors.”
Dr. Udo also, called on the residents to provide useful information about suspected movements of persons to the Police, stressing that the Police Tactical Response team have the capacity to respond to distress call within few minutes in any area.
