Umuahia Elder Burns Himself In A Hotel


An Umuahia elderly man has set himself ablaze (ogbara onweya oku) in Boundary Plaza Hotel, resident at Nyanya, a satellite town of Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT);  a hotel he rented and stayed in for 5 years.

The unfortunate incidence which occurred in the early hours of Thursday, also saw the entire hotel completely raid by fire, even as the deceased, Dr. Isaac Ojukwu, was equally burnt beyond recognition.

FUTO Students Shutdown School In Protest Against Schol Fees Hike

Tension was reported to have engulfed the Federal University Of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) community as students took to streets protesting exorbitant increments in school fees by the management of the institution.

According to sources from the university, the protest which has led to the closure of the institution till further notice saw to the damage of University properties like  Senate building, ICT Centre, and Diamond Bank sited inside the school premises.

Two Yet-to-be-Identified Dead Hunters Found Dead In The Forest In Imo State

Two unidentified bodies supposedly hunters were yesterday found lying dead in a dreaded at Ogbaku Community, in Imo State (nka bu aru)

According to eyewitnesses, "The corpses of the hunters which were evacuated by the officers of the Nigeria police force were suspected to have been killed by unknown assilants.

Adding that "the hunters whose identities are yet to be identified had gone for hunting on Tuesday but were found dead in the bush when they couldn't return after two days."

Fire Guts Magistrate Court...Police Arrest One Person

A Magistrate Court in Achiagu, Ezza North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State was Thursday evening gutted by an inferno which if not for the timely intervention of the Police and some civilians who helped to pu it out, would have burn down the building.

An eyewitness, onye furu oku ahu ma gbakwazie ama, said some passers-by called the attention of the Police and residents when they saw the incidence, adding that their quick intervention stopped the fire from penetrating critical offices.

The PDP Makarfi Majority Group have, through their twitter handle, blasted two of the 3-man Justices of the Appeal Court who gave their Judgement in Favour of Senator Ali Modu Sheriff while only one of the Justices favoured the Makarfi group stating that their judgement was "scanty."

The judgement delivered by the Justices upheld the demands of Senator Sheriff, the leader of the minority to settle out of court (politically) and continue his tenure as the National Chairman of the Party to 2018 a year before the general election

Anybody Caught Registering SIM Cards In Undesignated Places Will Pay N5million Fine

Federal Government has banned registration of sim cards in open places other than designated areas.

The ban was issued by the National Communications Commission through its Head of Enforcement Unit, Salisu Abdu who made the disclosure while speaking with journalists following the arrest of three defaulters.
