Just In: Supreme Court Sacks Sen Ali Modu Sheriff As PDP Chairman

Happiness besets the members of the People Democratic Party, PDP, as the Supreme Court, today, Wednesday, sacked Senator Ali Modu Sheriff as its National Chairman. 

According to reports from Vanguard, the apex court, in an unanimous decision by a five-man panel of Justices, handed leadership of the party to the Senator Ahmed Markafi-led National Working Committee, NWC, of the part.

As reported by the Special Adviser to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki on New Media, Bamikole Omisore, via his social media handle @MrBanksOmisore, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki is expected to join the Acting President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo at the presidential villa for the signing of the budget.

“Today at 3:00pm Senate President @bukolasaraki will join AG @ProfOsinbajo for the signing of 2017budget at Presidential Villa in @AsoRock,” he wrote on his twitter handle.

Court Upholds Makarfi Appeal, Dismisses Ali Modu Sheriff Case

The Supreme Court, Monday, dismissed the application filed by the factional National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Modu Sheriff, against his rival, Senator Ahmed Makarfi wherein he prayed the court to stop the Supreme Court from hearing the appeal earlier filed by Senator Makarfi on March 16, challenging the February 27 ruling of the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt, which declared him, Sheriff, as the legitimate National Chairman of the party. Sheriff had filed the application on March 21.

Drama As Federal Executive Meeting Fails To Hold

The Government house was thrown into confusion and some bit of surprises today, Wednesday as the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting which is scheduled to hold every Wednesday was canceled.

Reports say as at 11am this morning, neither President Buhari, his Vice, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo nor Ministers and other government officials were present at the Council Chambers, the offical venue of the meeting.

Up till now, the Presidency is yet to give reasons why the meeting did not hold.
