Photos: A Young Man, His Girlfriend, Two Others Die In Accident Caused By Police Roadblock In Anambra State
The people of Obosi, Anambra state were thrown into mourning yesterday, Sunday as following the untimely death of four indigenes who were victims of a fatal accident in the area.
The accident which was said to have been caused by a police road block mounted in the area claimed saw two motorcycles collide to end the lives of the young victims, part of whom were a young man and his girlfriend.
The unfortunate event was said to have sprung protest by the youths in the community.
Police road blocks or checkpoints have been a measure source for worry in the state and the entire South East as lots of accidents have occurred through that, while some unscrupulous elements in the security force have seized the avenue to extort monies from the people of the region, a rare case in some other regions.
A Facebook user, Mazi Nnadozie Uzochuqu who shared the story wrote:
“When they say Nigerian police is your friend think twice. I saw this on my way to shop and stop by to know what's going on.. When I asked a guy beside me he said.
“This accident happen yesterday evening alone obosi opposite slaughter room when a group of police men at obosi police station mounted their usual roadblocks at a dangerous sharp corner.
“Unknown for this lady and her boyfriend whom her boyfriend was riding on a bike saw the road block with another kymco motorcycle coming towards them collide the boyfriend and two other persons died at a spot, this lady was taken to a nearby hospital about 20min she died, after the accident those police men run inside their station and nothing has been done.
“Since today I have never been myself because of the deep hole I saw on her forehead.”
