"Why We Insist On Anambra Election Boycott' -- IPOB

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB on Saturday, dismissed allegations that it wants to disrupt the November 18th Governorship election in Anambra.

It rather stated that it only holds plans to boycott the election.

The group who spoke in a statement by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful insisted that it wants referendum to be conducted on Biafra exit.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, who has been a target of public vituperation and scorn for his controversial and contradictory statements has refuted the public opinion that he's a liar.

According to him, he "has never told a lie" and he blamed public perception about him as a "liar" on the PDP who he said, are always ready to "shoot down" anything that comes from him "as fake news and a lie."

President Muhammadu Buhari was in attendance personally at the opening ceremony of the 2017 e-Nigeria conference which the National Information Techonlogy Development Agency (NITDA) orgainsed at the conference centre, Abuja.

He claimed in his speech that his government has since it came onboard, saved Nigeria over N20 billion monthly by curbing ghost worker’s problem in the civil service.

Dr Alex Ekwueme Is Still Alive, Not In Any London Hospital -- Family

Contrary to rumour making round that nwafor Igbo, Second Republic Vice President, Sir Alex Ekwueme has died in London hospital, report from his immediate family can confirm that he is alive and recuperating.

Dr. Ekwueme had collapsed in his home in Enugu Saturday around 2:00 am in his house at Independence Layout, Enugu state shortly after he turned 85 and was immediately rushed to the Memphys hospital, in its Intensive Care Unit.

He was said to have been in coma afterwards.

Human Rights Activist and avid campaigner for the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) Group, Aisha Yesufu has openly voiced out her stance against the re-election bid of President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a tweet she shared on her Twitter handle, the activist stated that the "only support" she would give President Buhari in 2019 woudl be to "help him pack his things back to his village, Daura."

"Igbos Will Produce Nigeria's President In 2013 If They Support Buhari's Re-Election" --- Orji Uzo Kalu

Ex-governor of Abia State and business mogul, Orji Uzo Kalu has expressed his optimism of Ndi Igbo producing Nigeria’s President in 2023 if they support the re-election bid of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Mazi Kalu who is an APC chieftain in Abia state, stated this in Umuahia, capital of the state, arguing that the “future of the Igbo in Nigerian politics is brighter now than it has ever been in the past with the APC.”

According to online reports, indigenes of Enugu state successfully boycotted the Local government elections held today, Saturday 4th, in the seventeen (17) local government areas of the state.

Recall the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu had declared sit-at-home of their members and the people of the South East for all elections to be conducted in the South East region. 

Rochas Okorocha Slams Nnamdi Kanu Again, Says "Kanu Is Inconsequential"

Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha, has taken a swipe at the leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, calling him a mad man.

Rochas Okorocha said this during an interview with the Sun news where he also stated that he would support president Muhammadu Buhari should the President contest in the 2019 Presidential election.

“These young men seeking relevance as a livelihood and to tell you how daft some people can be, any mad man can just rise one day and lead a senseless agitation and he’d get followers.

Buhari Approves Payment Of Pension To Pardoned Retired Biafra Police Personnel

President Muhammadu Buhari, has approved the payment of pension for police officers who received presidential pardon during President Olusegun Obasanjo’s first regime in 2000 after they served in the Biafran Police during the Nigeria Civil war.

This was contained in a statement by the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) which stated that 162 officers will be paid.

Also, 57 Next of Kin of those who are dead already who not been paid their death benefits will be paid in the first batch which will begin in Enugu on Friday the 20th of October, 2017.

South East Governors, Ministers And Ohaneze Ndigbo In Closed-Door Meeting With Buhari

According to reports from the state house, Abuja, President Muhammadu Buhari is in an ongoing closed-door meeting with the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Governors and Ministers from the South East.

The agenda of the meeting is yet unconfirmed at the time of this report. 

According to the Sun, the governors of Abia state, Okezie Ikpeazu, Enugu state, Ifeanyi Ugwuani, Ebonyi state, Dave Umahi and the Imo state deputy governor, Eze Madumere are all in attendance.

IPOB: President-General Of Ohaneze Ndigbo Wants To Use Us To Bargain For Vice-Presidency In 2019

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has stated that it has fallen out of favour with the President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Dr Nnia Nwodo because it refused to be used as a bargaining power by Nwodo for a Vice President slot in the 2019 presidential election.

 

According to a press statement entitled ‘why we fell out with Nwodo,’ signed and released by the publicity secretary of the group, Mr Emma Powerful today, Wednesday, in Awka, Anambra state, IPOB gave eight reasons why it decided to shun the earlier agreement being reached by Nnamdi Kanu and Igbo elders.

Buhari, South East Governors Pushing Us To Take Up Arms In Our Agitation-- IPOB

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, under the leadership of Maazi Nnamdi Kanu, today, Monday raised alarm that President Muhammadu Buhari together with the governors of the south eastern states was forcing them to take up arms in their struggle for the actualisation of Biafra despite their non-violent stance ever since.

The Independent National Broadcast of President Muhammadu Buhari has continued to draw wide condemnation.

Among the notable voices who have given strong reactions against the speech is the former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili.

Ada-Igbo, Oby, took to her twitter handle to express her disappointment with President Buhari's speech.

She noted that the speech does not express tenets of nation building and at best divisive and lacks inspiration.
