Breaking: Nnamdi Kanu Calls-Off Ongoing Peace Negotiations With South East Governors

Following the invasion in his house and alleged plan of the Nigerian Military to assassinate him, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has called off the ongoing peace negotiation between him and the governors of the South East. 

According to Kanu, the decision was taken after it was revealed to him that the Military were fully armed against him and are plotting to assassinate him.

The statement reads in full:

Following the invasion in his house and alleged plan of the Nigerian Military to assassinate him, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has called off the ongoing peace negotiation between him and the governors of the South East. 

According to Kanu, the decision was taken after it was revealed to him that the Military were fully armed against him and are plotting to assassinate him.

Lawyer to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Ifeanyi Ejiofor has alarmed the public of the Kanu's whereabouts.

Barr. Ejiofor today, Tuesday, issued a statement over the incident stating that he is unaware if Nnamdi Kanu is still alive or dead following the invasion of heavily armed Nigerian soldiers into his house.

The statement reads: “Just to notify the world that my client’s (Nnamdi Kanu) house is presently under siege by the trigger happy soldiers acting under the direct instruction of Chief of Army staff.”

The governor of Abia state has placed a three-day curfew in Aba, the commercial hub of Abia state following the unrest generated by the invasion of the Nigerian Army in the state.

The invasion of the Nigerian Army particularly in the hometown of the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, in executing their Operation Python Dance II, has led to a face-off between them and the IPOB.

This has inturn thrown in tension in the peaceful areas of Umuahia, Abia state capital.

South East Governors Issue Statement Over Soldiers' Invasion Of Nnamdi Kanu's Residence

Joining many notable voices to condemn the attack on the home of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, by the Nigerian military, South East Governors in the early hours of today, Monday decried the attack.

Director of Information, South East Governor’s Forum Secretariat, Mr. Mike Udah who addressed Vanguard via telephone said the development was worrisome.

He the governors were determined towards the sustainability of peace, political stability and economic prosperity within the Region.

The Nigerian Police have released a statement on the clash between tricycle (Keke Napep) drivers and Soldiers at Isi-Gate Umuahia.

The report which many have kicked against for its seemingly one-sidedness, reveals that only soldiers were wounded in the encounter while the tricycle drivers have been charged to court.
